Hello and welcome to my website. Let me introduce myself, if that doesn’t sound too cheesy. I’m a British novelist having published my first novel Charlotte and Me in 2023, although I’ve always loved writing stories and poetry. This includes writing scripts for a tv soap opera in the late 1980’s and having poetry I wrote included in an anthology, and one being used by a local punk band.
However after a life of raising three children I came out ten years ago. I always knew I was different in some way, and through my writing and poetry I have finally found myself and my love of telling stories, which people have really enjoyed reading which has been a joy to hear.
I’m also a historian/archaeologist having completed my BA and MA in Historical Archaeology at the University of York in my early 50s. I’m especially interested in the 19th Century, including the study of workhouses and asylums and the biographies of the women and children who lived in those oppressive and scary buildings.
I grew up in York and have lived there for most of my life, my books draw on the areas where I grew up and places that I have worked. I’ve had a varied career which has included being Editor in Chief of the Archaeology journal at the University of York, rare breed sheep farmer, home carer, administrator and charity worker.
Charlotte and Me was a joy to write and has been well received, however you will notice there aren’t any reviews for it on Amazon, although it did have 40 lovely ones until the middle of October. This is due to my KDP account being terminated by them through zero fault of my own, a fate which has befallen many other authors who have self published through them. However some reviews are available on Goodreads.
Anyway, welcome to my website and enjoy browsing. Links to purchasing my books can be found in the link below. Many thanks.
